Match specs to the job

Before comparing prices, decide the actual job: browser work, school documents, light photo editing, coding, or gaming. Buying more machine than you need can be as wasteful as buying too little.

For most everyday buyers, memory, storage health, keyboard condition, and screen quality matter more than chasing the newest processor.

Ask for proof screens

Good listings show system information, storage size, battery cycle count where available, and a clean reset state. If the laptop is locked to a workplace, school, or previous owner account, avoid it.

Check every port you care about. A dead USB-C charging port or broken HDMI output may not be visible in photos.

Keyboard and hinge wear

Shiny keys, wobbling hinges, screen pressure marks, and swollen trackpads tell you how the machine lived. Cosmetic scratches are normal; swelling, hinge separation, and liquid damage are not.
