Laptop proof check

Used Laptop on eBay: Specs, Battery, and Lock Checks

Used laptop listings often lead with the best number in the title: CPU, RAM, storage, or screen size. The expensive surprises usually sit elsewhere: weak battery, missing charger, keyboard wear, port damage, storage health, or a laptop still tied to a school, workplace, or previous owner.

Quick read

What changes the decision

  • Ask for the actual specs screen, exact model, RAM, storage size, battery cycle count or runtime proof, charger photo, and reset state from the laptop being sold.
  • Do not trust title specs until photos prove them. A clean exterior photo does not prove battery health, SSD health, keyboard function, ports, webcam, speakers, Wi-Fi, or lock status.
  • Price in charger replacement, battery age, missing keys, USB-C or HDMI damage, storage mismatch, and no-return risk before treating the listing as a deal.
